Vapor Intrusion – Challenges and Trends

By Braun Intertec

Concerns regarding the migration of gases from the ground into structures is nothing new; it has been a concern for decades in the form of methane gas migration from landfills, or naturally occurring radon gas in certain geologic environments.  In comparison, the migration of chemical vapors associated with contaminated soil and groundwater is a more recent concern, but poses a greater challenge because of the low concentrations of some chemicals that can create a risk to building inhabitants.  Watch the webinar below to hear Frank Clark, P.E., P.G., and Chris Thompson, P.E., discuss the mechanics of vapor intrusion as well as techniques for assessment and mitigation.
