Strategically Building Effective Relationships with Regulators

By Braun Intertec

Environmental consulting necessitates strong working relationships and trust with both regulators and regulated entities, while understanding both their challenges and sometimes, competing interests. What we have come to understand in our work is the motivations, goals, and concerns of each group and how important it is for regulated entities to proactively build positive relationships with regulatory agencies (as well as project stakeholders and influencers). Poor communication and relations with regulators can lead to project delays, increased inspections, enforcement actions, and an unfavorable reputation for your company. Intentional relationship building and maintenance, however, can provide faster and more flexible permitting, quicker resolution of noncompliance, and a decrease in your overall regulatory burden. Watch the webinar below as Jeff Smith  and Jennifer Adams discuss how you can strategically engage and build relationships with regulatory agencies and utilize the right consultants to minimize risk and produce better outcomes.
