Meet Savannah Killion, another invaluable environmental scientist we’re grateful to have on board!

Where are you from?
I am from The Woodlands, TX!

Where did you graduate from and what was your area of study?
I graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Bioenvironmental Sciences in May 2018.

What is your role at W&M?
I am an Environmental Scientist and I work mostly in Environmental Compliance for W&M. I assist Project Managers in developing plans to help our clients comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

How would you describe your team in three words?
Diverse, friendly, and hard working.
The compliance team is pretty spread out geographically which leads to fun projects and diverse clientele.

What has been your favorite project so far?
My favorite project was the first SWP3 I worked on for a cement company.  Walking around the site tracking stormwater flow was fun and informative.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Going on site visits. It is always a nice break to get out of the office and do hands-on work.

Best piece of advice for someone starting out in this field?
Be ready to get creative in your problem-solving skills.

Favorite place you’ve traveled?
My favorite place I have traveled is Assisi, Italy.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
Toss-up between Dian Fossey and Steve Irwin. They are my biggest inspirations and heroes!

What gets you up in the morning?
Cuddles from my dog and A LOT of coffee.

You’re happiest when…?
Participating in outdoor activities: fishing, hiking, walking, biking. Anything that lets me enjoy the great outdoors!
