Braun Intertec Selected as SWPPP Designer for Wyoming Wind Project
In early 2019, Braun Intertec was retained as the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP or SWP3) designer for ongoing construction of a large wind farm in Wyoming. The project is located on both public and private lands in a remote area of the Rocky Mountain foothills in southern Wyoming. Elevations range from 6,500 to 8,500 feet above mean sea level across the site.
The SWPPP design was performed and completed for 2019 construction, which included primarily a major haul road but also included turbine pad locations and the on-site quarry mined for aggregate used to surface the haul road. Braun Intertec was also retained to perform on-site SWPPP installer training, engineering consultation regarding the configuration of stream crossings, and on-site drainage and SWPPP troubleshooting.
Project challenges that were successfully addressed included tight timeframes for the production of SWPPP designs, steep slopes, regular high winds, and unique seeding and soil stabilization requirements.
